Summary
The postdoc will join a dynamic research team investigating neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Participation in national and international human genomics consortia foster remarkable opportunities to leverage fruit fly genetics to enhance gene discovery and functional validation. Current areas of interest include endo-lysosomal sorting, RNA metabolism/splicing, neuronal cell adhesion, and synaptic mechanisms. The most promising genetic pathways are also being pursued in mouse genetic models, giving us the power to translate findings from flies to both mammalian experimental systems and human population genetic data.
Job Duties
- Refines their independent project, and be responsible for designing, carrying out, and analyzing results from their experimental plans.
- Takes the lead on writing scientific manuscripts as well as contributing to research grant applications.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates must have a Ph.D. and substantial experience in the field of Drosophila genetics.
